Window Sash Repairs

Make sure to check the sashes of your windows regularly for damage, mildew, and mold. By catching these problems early, you can save money on repairs in the future.

The sash is an interior frame that can move up and down vertically in windows that are open. This article will teach you how to do simple sash repairs.

Weather Stripping

Wooden window sashes can give a classic look to your home. They are also sturdy and window repairs will last for many years when they are maintained properly. Many times it is a matter of making a few minor adjustments that can help these windows function smoothly again and help homeowners save money on energy costs.

To complete these repairs to the sash, it's important to have all the necessary tools lined up before you begin. Mark the hinge channel's location on the frame (Photo 1) using pencil. Remove the sash and take off the hardware, including the parting beads (Photo 2) and the cords or chains which hold it in place. Sash Weights

Cut the cord or chain and secure it as in the previous step. You can either employ a hammer and screws or nails, however nails are less likely to cause damage.
