The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Robot vacuums eliminate pet hair, lint and dust from the floor before they can settle. They also can avoid stairs and other obstacles like furniture that can tip.

The majority of robotic vacuums require maintenance, such as emptying (and occasionally, rinsing) the bin, and wiping sensors and cameras. Also, they have to be connected to an electrical source. Many have smartphone apps to schedule, adjust settings, and more.

The iRobot Roomba 980 is the latest model in the series of top-of-the-line mop robot vacuum vacuum cleaners that are an essential part of any modern household. This model is equipped with a HEPA-filter that will help those who are allergic. Additionally it also has a strong battery that can clean up to two hours and it will return to its dock when its bin is full.

Smart mapping is a different feature that assists in identifying areas in your home that require attention and provides an easy path to get around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does an excellent job of moving around toys that have been left scattered on the floor, or furniture legs that stick out of the ground. Roomba also comes with a sensor that can snap Roomba back to reality when it begins to drift away from its initial location.

iRobot has also introduced a new set of rollers under the Roomba's bottom that don't have bristles and, therefore, tend to resist tangles more than the previous models. These rollers are also taller and can be tucked under low couches or beds. They're specifically designed to make this model more maneuverable on different flooring types.

What makes the Roomba 980 stand out from other models with a higher-end price tag, though, is its integration of the new dirt detection feature, which uses cameras to identify tiny bits of dirt. This is a great improvement over the previous version which relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom cover method to bounce around the room and clean everything at least three times from different angles.

In our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. It scored highly on carpets with low pile and on mid-pile. It did a good job of removing pet hair, but it was struggling with extremely thick and long pet fur that was clumped together.

Despite these small shortcomings, the Roomba 980 remains one of our best-performing robots, and all in one vacuum and mop it's even close to being as expensive as some of the other top models on this list. It has a lot of features you would expect from a top model but does not have all In one vacuum and mop the fancy apps and smart home integration you'd get from other top rated robot vacuum contenders.

The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and get working immediately. After removing the pull tab for the battery and the yellow bin insert from its undercarriage, all that you need to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, press its big "Clean" button, and let it get to work. It will return to docking station when it runs out of batteries or all in One vacuum and Mop is full of sand. There are also indicator lights at the top of the bin that let you know the bin is empty, or when it requires recharging, or when it loses Wi-Fi.
