Sony's DSEE Extreme Engine (which upscales music that has been compressed to near high-res) and Bluetooth's LDAC Technology are included. This allows for streaming of high-quality audio with rates that are higher than traditional bluetooth wireless headphone. The built-in microphone is capable of making calls hands-free.

Like the previous generation of WH headphones the XM5s excel in noise cancellation. These headphones are among the top in eliminating the constant drones that are heard in train and underground carriages. The XM5s do a great job of separating listeners from noise of busy airports and streets, too.

The sound quality is also excellent. The XM5s aren't as precise in the lower frequencies as the XM4, but there's a more pronounced sense of clarity and transparency as well. This might not be a problem for some people, but it could be a problem for those who spend a lot of their time in the gym or lives in a city that is rainy.

Apple AirPods Max

Apple AirPods Max is a pair of wireless headphones over-ear which feature Bluetooth technology and noise cancellation. Apple designed dynamic drivers measuring 40mm with a neutral sound profile that emphasizes mids and highs without going too loud. This makes them perfect for movies and music. They also have superior fidelity compared to most rival headphones.

Spatial audio is another great feature. It uses the gyroscopes, accelerometers, and iPhones and iPads to determine where you're moving.
