Some models are hard to attach or remove from the base, but. The Doona Combo, for example, requires a two-step attachment process and straps that slide over the infant carrier's bottom portion. It's tempting to skip the steps but it could result in unsafe results.

Certain models are also more difficult to fold or store than others, making them less practical. Graco FastAction 3 in 1 Car Seat Stroller is difficult to fold because of its massive dimensions and bulky frames. Some testers are also disappointed by the canopy on this model to be disappointing. On the other hand, the Britax Parkway Click and Go Combo is simple to fold with just the pull of an lever and the push of an button. This model is also a good choice for parents who plan to use their car seat on other vehicles as it can be removed from the base and attached to any stroller that is standard.

Easy to Fold

It should be simple to fold and unfold the car seat, no matter if you're storing it in your trunk, or in a closet. The best combos we've tested feature an easy, one-handed fold that's compact and sturdy enough to use on long strolls. They're also easy to maneuver, moving effortlessly over uneven surfaces and bumps. Certain combos are only linked and disengaged by straps. This may be a bit like a second step and make it difficult for parents to secure their child's car seat correctly.

Both have a single front wheel which is easy to push (one-handed!). They also come with a versatile swivel wheel, perfect for shopping and running errands. The only drawback is that they're quite heavy and may be difficult to lift up when carrying a baby in car seats.

Easy to Assemble

Some car seat and stroller combinations are difficult to put together. We discovered that the UPPAbaby Cruz v2 Combo was one of the easiest to build, and it comes with a handy quick-start guide that makes putting this system together a breeze. Other models we tested such as the UPPAbaby Minu, UPPAbaby Vista v2, Thule Urban Glide 2 and Baby Trend Snap-N-Go EX Universal, were also fairly easy to put together. The BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Combo however, is difficult to assemble. It requires two steps to attach the lower anchors and using straps that cover the bottom of the carrier. It's also very heavy, which means it takes two hands to snap the carrier into the base and detach it from there.

In our tests, it took around 5 minutes to put together the UPPAbaby v2 Cruz. This is a quick process when you take into account the time saved from not having to rip out all the pieces. The toddler seat can be attached and detached easily on most of these models.
